24 3/4in. nitro barrel engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 13 BRUTON STREET, LONDON.', the knox form with 'HOLLAND'S .244 "MAGNUM"', finish worn, block-mounted open sights with folding leaf sight and marked 250 and 400, ramp-mounted bead fore-sight with locking folding protector hood, the receiver (with thumb cutout) later mounted with a B C Miroku 3x-9x32 telescopic sight in Weaver rings, additional side safety, recoil blocks, hinged straddle floorplate with push button release, engraved 'MADE IN ENGLAND' and '4 CARTRIDGES', pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, monte carlo comb, colour-hardened steel pistolgrip-cap (with trap), sling swivels, 14 1/2in. pull including buttplate (buttplate chipped at heel), weight 8lb. 9oz.
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed in April 1961 for 'Niarchos'.
Research would indicate this could very possibly be Stavros Spyros Niarchos (1909 - 1996), multi-billionaire Greek shipping tycoon
